ImgPeek – Privacy Policy

ImgPeek

Privacy Policy

Your privacy is
completely protected.

ImgPeek collects no personal data, sends nothing to external servers, and requires only one minimal browser permission.

✓ No data collection ✓ No tracking ✓ No ads ✓ No accounts

The short version

ImgPeek is a Chrome browser extension that restores the "View Image" button on Google Images. It works entirely within your browser and does not communicate with any external server, cloud service, or third party of any kind.

This Privacy Policy explains what information ImgPeek accesses, how it uses that information, and what it absolutely does not do. We believe in being completely transparent.

Effective date: March 18, 2026

We collect nothing

ImgPeek does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal information or usage data whatsoever. There is no database, no backend server, no analytics pipeline, and no telemetry of any kind associated with this extension.

  • ✕ Browsing history — ImgPeek never reads, stores, or transmits your browsing history.
  • ✕ Personal information — No name, email address, IP address, location, or any personally identifiable information is ever collected.
  • ✕ Search queries — ImgPeek never reads or records what you search for on Google.
  • ✕ Images you view — The extension reads the image URL already visible in the Google Images panel to create a direct link. This URL is never transmitted anywhere.
  • ✕ Usage analytics — There are no analytics, crash reports, or usage statistics collected.
  • ✕ Cookies or fingerprinting — ImgPeek does not set any cookies and does not perform browser fingerprinting.
  • ✓ Your settings only — ImgPeek stores your preferences (e.g. "open in new tab") locally using Chrome's built-in storage API. These settings stay on your device and within your Chrome profile only.

One permission, clearly explained

ImgPeek requests only a single browser permission. Here is exactly what it is used for and nothing more.

storage Used exclusively to save your extension settings (such as whether to open images in a new tab) and sync them across your Chrome sessions via Chrome Sync. No personal data is stored — only your preference choices.

ImgPeek does not request access to: all websites, tabs, bookmarks, downloads, notifications, clipboard, camera, microphone, geolocation, or any other sensitive browser API.

The extension operates as a content script that runs only on Google Images pages (google.com/search with image parameters and regional equivalents). It cannot and does not run on any other website.

Purely local, purely client-side

When you open an image panel on Google Images, ImgPeek reads the image URL that Google has already loaded and displayed in your browser. It uses this URL to create a direct link — the "View Image" button.

This entire process happens locally inside your browser tab. The image URL is never sent to any server, never logged, and never leaves your device. ImgPeek simply reads what is already on your screen and builds a clickable link from it.

When you click "View Image," your browser navigates directly to the image URL — exactly as if you had typed the URL into your address bar yourself. ImgPeek is not involved in that navigation.

  • ✓ All processing happens locally in your browser
  • ✓ No network requests are made by the extension itself
  • ✓ No data ever leaves your device
  • ✓ The extension has no server, no API, no backend

Zero third-party involvement

ImgPeek does not integrate with, send data to, or receive data from any third-party service. There are no advertising networks, analytics providers, crash reporting services, or data brokers involved in any way.

ImgPeek is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Google LLC. When you use Google Images, Google's own Privacy Policy applies to your interaction with Google's services — ImgPeek has no influence over that.

When you click "View Image" and your browser loads an image from an external website (e.g. a stock photo site), that website's own privacy policy governs that connection. ImgPeek is not a party to that transaction.

Safe for all ages

ImgPeek does not collect any information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. Since no personal data is collected at all, ImgPeek is inherently compliant with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and similar regulations.

If this policy ever changes

If we ever update this Privacy Policy, the new version will be published at this same URL with an updated effective date. Since ImgPeek does not collect contact information, we cannot notify users directly — we encourage you to review this page periodically.

In the unlikely event of a material change that affects user privacy, the update will be noted in the Chrome Web Store release notes for the corresponding extension version.
